Phil Smock & Dave Baranyk caught this nice stringer of fish Sunday morning while downrigging on Seneca Lake.
This fellow (didn't give his name) submitted this.. I caught my first 6 lakers ever at Keuka on Suttons from a downrigger. This is the biggest. It was 24 1/2 inches. Maybe you can add this to your honor roll.
Ed Cragg started early Friday trying to beat the weather, that did not happen. Got into one mid 30” fish around 7:15 AM. Between the wind, rain, and lighting managed to get one more at 10:00 AM. The rest of the day was a wash. Hit the water at 3:00 AM Saturday, 1st fish hit at 9:00 AM, did not get another hit until noon when I picked up some new musky hunters. We were setting the rigs and a mid 30” fish hit. After that we hooked a fish an hour or so. Big fish of the day was 45”. Ended up with eight fish in all.
Dave Baranyk with a monster 10.6 lbs lake trout caught Sunday 7/18 9:00am.
Ed Cragg had another good day on Waneta this Saturday, went 6 out of 10 fish. I should have had 8 fish, I screwed up on two. Wind was heavy at times and boat traffic was not too bad. Fish were hitting all day, like one every hour. Had to deal with clumps of weeds that the cottage owners were cutting loose and sending a drift. One of the ones that I lost did a tail walk and I did not give her enough line and she was gone. I did see close to 3’ of her with her dorsal fin still in the water. Had a mid 40” pull the hooks at boat side.
Ron Steffan from Pa. with 2 nice fat lakers taken from Cayuga Lake trolling mooselook wobblers and krocodile spoons.
Millport boys Depew and buddy with this respectable 6 3/4 lb. pike from the pier at Watkins shiner under a bobber did the trick.
Doug Teed with this 40 in. 16 1/2 lb. musky caught on a live shiner from Waneta. The boys cut the line and hook but the musky wasn't able to recover. It is being mounted as it is the first fish for Doug over 3 ft. and Doug is going to get the tools necessary to do proper release for any other muskies caught.
Ed Cragg went out Saturday morning got into five fish, managing to boat one. Changed to braided line and realized that the drag was too tight and I was pulling the hooks out of the fish. Went back out Sunday after praying to the musky gods and got into eight fish, boating six. First fish of the day was 45 ˝” was on the water 15 minutes. One little guy that if it was 16” it was lucky I let go in the water with out a picture. Broke in a new musky hunter. She is hooked and will be buying musky tackle.
Here's Augie, Larry and Max with some nice trout on the last day of their season.
Ed Cragg started early Saturday morning on Waneta at around 12:35 AM, first fish hit at 4:50 AM, mid 30’s. Second fish hit at 8:30, another mid 30” fish, had two more fish on with in the hour, 8:45 hooked 45 ˝” and 9:20 a 32”. I pulled off the water around 1:30 that afternoon, between boats, water skiers, and jet skiers the lake was getting crazy. Went out Monday morning on the way to my niece’s birthday, got two hours of fishing in and hooked a 32” fish. After the party went back out and got a little guy, I think he thought he was a small mouth, got air 3 or 4 times, and did a few tail walks. It is amazing how a small fish can fight. |
