Now you can get your video on the Seneca Marine Honor Roll - |
If your camera records on Mini-DV or Hi-8 tape then the tape itself can be dropped off at Seneca Marine.
Some cameras record straight to miniDVD (inside the camera). If your camera records on disc then the disc itself can be dropped off at Seneca Marine.
Some cameras record to a built-in hard drive (inside the camera). If your camera is one of these types you must use the software provided with the camera to burn it to DVD, then the disc itself can be dropped off at Seneca Marine.
There is only 1 requirement for a video to be submitted to the Honor Roll:
1) Videos must be no longer than 5 minutes in duration (give or take a few seconds - not 'minutes')
All videos submitted will be edited to be 3 minutes or less in duration.
All videos submitted will also be edited to remove the audio track. There are 2 reasons for this: a - It eliminates the possibility of 'bad' language being present in the video. b - It greatly reduces the file size of the final video.
Except for audio removal, slight resizing, and duration videos will not be edited further (such as deleting 'unwanted frames' then 'splicing' the remaining parts back together again.) For example - you may have been shooting some, then the camera may have been aimed downward for a few moments (while it's still recording), then raised back up to shoot the action again. If it's in the video you submit then it will be in the video on the web site.
We will not attempt to edit videos to correct the visual 'quality'. If it's determined the quality is poor (due to excessive camera movement, too dark, over exposed, washed-out, out of focus, blotchiness, or excessive pixelation) the video will be rejected in order to keep the quality of all videos seen on the web site as high as possible. (after all - we want you - and us - to 'look good')
Some helpful tips: - Plan your shots. As the camera operator know where you can stand & shoot from beforehand so you don't 'get in the way' but still get good shots of the action. - Don't shoot 'towards the sun' - this causes 'sunspots' in the video, and can also over expose or 'wash it out' because of a thing called 'white balance'. - Get a good, sharp focus (from where you and the camera has to be) before you start shooting. - Hold the camera as steady as possible while it's recording. Avoid sudden movements. - Zoom in on things 'slowly and smoothly' (so you don't end up zooming in too close, then have to zoom out some again)
